1851 Adshead's map shows the 'Imperial Patent Wadding Co's Mill' as a long narrow building, approx 150 by 25ft, on the eastern bank of the River Medlock, behind a row of houses on Zara Street (later renamed Sackville Street). Immediately north was the very small chemical works of E. (Elijah?) Hamnett, whose building measured approx 30 by 15ft. The wadding mill is not shown on the 1849 O.S. map, but the firm was advertising their products as being produced at Zara Street from January 1849.
1891 Directory: Listed as cotton spinners and manufacturers.[2]

1903 Amalgamated with William Flanagan and Son.
1929 Listed Exhibitor. Manufacturers of the finest and other qualities of Wadding, both patents and sheets; also pound Wools, absorbent Wools and "Imperi" Patent Padding for upholstery of motor cars, etc. (Stand S.4) [4]
1970 Company liquidated. [5]
