1874 Formation of a graduates section, which held its first general meeting in the Institution Hall, Corporation Buildings Glasgow. The graduates section was composed of gentlemen from 3 distinct bodies: former graduates of the Institution of Engineers and Shipbuilders, members of the Association of Engineers, and members of the Fairfield Association. James Gilchrist was president.[1]
