1756 Baptised in Wednesbury, St Bartholomew, Staffordshire[1]
1789 An old sporting print shows: "... Tom Johnson fighting Isaac Perrins at Banbury on October 22 1789. Johnson conceded 5 st.—and won by a knock-out."[2]. The fight lasted hour and a quarter, when the skill and activity of Johnson, who was a little man, prevailed over the great hulk and strength of Perrins.[3]
