J. E. Baxter and Co

1900 J. E. Baxter, the chairman of the board of directors of the Leyland and Birmingham Rubber Co, set up another company next door in Tuer Street - J. E. Baxter and Co. He then ran the two firms until he was forced out of Leyland and Birmingham in 1909.
WWII The factory, in conjunction with the Leyland and Birmingham and the Ordnance factories, produced inflatable craft, barrage balloons, dummy tanks and gas masks.
1962 The company became part of the BTR Group
So, when the Leyland & Birmingham Rubber Co. joined up with BTR in the 1970s, the two firms were reunited again which they remained until closure.
