From Graces Guide

A chain of butchers shops

Vesteys developed the country-wide Dewhurst chain of butchers shops.

By 1925 was owned by the Union Cold Storage Co, a business run by the Vesteys[1]

Dewhursts were the first to introduce the innovation of glass windows on butcher's shops - previously meat had been exposed to the elements and pollution.

1984 Merged with Baxters, another chain of butchers.

1995 Eventually disbanded in the face of increasing competition from the supermarket chains.
