1866 Born the son of William Hume, Glasgow.

Educated in Glasgow.

Apprentice with James Howden & Co., Glasgow; subsequently Chief Draughtsman, General Manager and Director.

1922 App. with James Howden and Co., Glasgow; subsequently Chief Draughtsman, Gen. Man. and Dir. in same Co. Supervised Installations of How den's Patent System of Forced Draught on all the leading Steamships of the World; also many Installations of Reciprocating Steam Engines, Steam Turbines and Cylindrical and Water-tube Boilers for use on board ship and ashore.
