Professor J. J. Broeze

1954 Bio Note [1]

Professor Broeze graduated as a mechanical engineer at the Delft Technical College and then joined the Bataafsche Petroleum Maatschappij (Royal Dutch Shell Group). In 1929 he was appointed to the staff of the laboratory of this company in Delft, where he became a Diesel research engineer; in 1939 he was made director of the laboratory. In 1946 he was appointed Extraordinary Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the Delft Technical College. Professor Broeze has published many articles and papers on engine problems, many of them in collaboration with his predecessor, G. D. Boerlage, or with other members of the laboratory staff.

In recent years, still under the direction of Professor Broeze, the activities of the Laboratory have changed and the emphasis is now on mechanical engineering problems associated with the production of petroleum and the manufacture of products therefrom.
