J. Lindsay, Haigh Ironworks

James Lindsay of Haigh Iron Works, Wigan.
1818 A beam engine was made by James Lindsay for the Hannibal Price Sugar Plantation, Jacmel, Haiti. This exists in an overgrown, derelict condition. [1]
NB At this time the ironworks were owned by James Lindsay (1783-1869), Earl of Crawford. It seems unlikely that Lindsay himself made a beam engine but perhaps he had one made for the plantation.
