1988 'J. W. WASSALL the Leicester footwear retailer in which Hanson now has an 11 per cent stake has paid £11 million for two companies in the seating and veneer industries. Wassail is buying the businesses Evertaut and Toone from Harris and Sheldon a private mini-conglomerate headed by Mr James Miller who becomes chairman of Wassail. Mr James Miller is father of Mr Christopher Miller, Wassail’s chief executive and a former associate director of Hanson. Evertaut’s main activity is making office and commercial seating as well as manufacturing and installing shop display fittings Nottingham-based Toone makes plastic and wood veneer panels. As previously reported in the Leicester Mercury Wassail is 824 per cent owned by Benson Shoe both being administered from Brunswick Street Leicester.'
