Note: This is a sub-section of J. and H. McLaren: Traction Engines.

King Harry. 8nhp Road Locomotive. No 1181. Built 1911. Reg No: BF 4595.

This engine was built in 1912 at the McLaren workshop in Leeds for an Australian customer, used for winching and haulage, believed to be No. 1181. The wear is still clearly visible on some parts of the engine from its time spent abroad.

In 2003 the engine returned back from Australia in parts which consisted of: the boiler cylinder block crank wheels and the axles.

The engine has been completely overhauled in the last couple of years by the renewing of gears, shafts, bearings, tender, chimney, smoke box, piston rods, valve gear and pins, cleaning and making good the original parts, completely painting the engine and fitting tyres. The engine looks a little different now from when it was first built, it now has a solid fly wheel and an English style cab, ideal for the weather conditions here in England. The steering and brake arm have swapped sides to make it easier on roads, especially the Cornish lanes! It is now owned by Graham Vincent of Par, Cornwall
