James Douglas Howden Hume (1928-2009), CBE, LLD, of James Howden and Co

1928 May 4th. Born Melbourne, Australia, the son of Jimmy Hume, who had been installing Howden fans and other equipment in Munmorah Power Station. Hume was named after his great-great uncle James Howden, the renowned Glasgow engineer and inventor, who founded the firm in 1854.

1947 Joined the family business of James Howden and Co

1950 Married June Spriggs (died; one son, one daughter, one daughter deceased)

1964-87 Managing director of James Howden and Co taking over from his uncle Crawford Hume

2009 April 26th. Died.
