1938 Died. 'Death Of Mr. James Glass, Of Okehampton One of Devon's pioneer motorists, Mr, James Glass, died yesterday at his home in North-street, Okehampton. Aged 83, he was the founder over 50 years ago of the firm of J. Glass and Sons, Okehampton, agricultural implement makers. With the coming of the motor-car Mr, Glass was quick to realize the possibilities of the new form of transport, and his firm turned to motor engineering as a side line that has since become their principal business. About 1900 be himself became a car owner....'[1]
