JAMES HENRY BARBER died at Sheffield on December 25, 1902, at the age of eighty-two. He was a prominent figure in that city; and as managing director of the Sheffield Banking Company had much to do with the industries of the district. He devoted his best energies to the welfare of the city of his adoption, and in the promotion of all that was for the benefit of his fellow-citizens, taking an active part in all local movements. He was a member of the Society of Friends. He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1879.
