JAMES HENRY TYRELL, born on the 2nd May, 1865, at Basingstoke, died at Redhill on the 5th June, 1916.

After practising at Basingstoke as a Surveyor and Architect, he was appointed in 1889 Assistant Town Engineer to Johannesburg.

In the following year he became Assistant Engineer, and subsequently Engineer, to the Johannesburg Tramways Company, retaining that post until his return to England about 4 years before his death.

He was elected an Associate Member on the 4th December, 1894.
