MR. WILLIAM GRUNDY respectfully announces that he instructed by the trustees of Messrs. James Houtson and Co. to SELL by AUCTION, ..... the following Valuable MACHINERY. TOOLS, IMPLEMENTS, and EFFECTS, at the works, situate in Minshull-street, Portland-street, Manchester, consisting of one 22in. double-geered lathe, with rack, pinion and worm shaft, bed 30ft long by 2ft. 3in. [numerous lathes, planing and other machines listed, ....patterns for mangles, drying machines, squeezers, friction callender, embossing machines, dye becks, washing machines, and every description of machinery for calico printers, bleachers, finishers and mekers-up; patterns for screw and hydraulic presses, sizing machines, rasping, bone, and indigo mills; ....[patterns for gears, pulleys, pedestals, wall boxes, valves, water wheels, from 9ft to 47ft diameter] ..... condensing steam-engine, 14 horses' power, cylinder 19in diameter, 2ft stroke, with patent metallic piston ; waggon-shaped boiler, 9ft 10in long by 6ft; round boiler, 24ft 6in by 10ft, with steam-pipes; shafting, gas meters and piping, hand-cart, large cannon, on carriage; bell, and numerous other valuable property....'
