1823 James Keith established the original company (presumably in Abroath).

1883 The Blackman Ventilating Co was formed.

1890 The company was registered on 10 July, as the Blackman Ventilating Co. [1]

c1900 Gas Regulator. Exhibit at Nottingham Industrial Museum.

1900 These two concerns were amalgamated under the title James Keith and Blackman Co.

1901 In connection with the amalgamation of the business with that of James Keith, heating engineer of London and Arbroath, the name was changed as above.

1909 The Keith Blackman system of gas lighting with electric control was installed in Fleet Street[2]

1912 Produced boilers for water heating[3].

1913 Expansion at Abroath, connecting the foundry and workshops[4].

1914 Ventilating, lighting and heating engineers. Specialities: fans for ventilating, induced draught, dust removal, drying etc.; Smith's hearths; blowers, radiators, hot water supply apparatus, hydraulic rams, anti-incrust safety valves, high pressure gas lighting. Employees 1,000. [5]

1917 Advert. Keith fans for heating and ventilating. [6]

1921 James Keith, MD of the company, died[7].

1927 Advert. For fans for ventilating. [8]

1937 Heating, lighting and ventilating engineers. [9]

1937 Rights issue; name changed to Keith Blackman[10].
