Sir James Milne (1883-1958) of the Great Western Railway

Born in Dublin, Ireland, the son of Joseph Milne and his wife Margaret Geddes Reid

Attended Campbell College in Belfast and later moved to Great Britain to study Engineering at the Victoria University of Manchester, graduating in 1904.

c.1908 Pupil in the Engineer's office at Swindon Works[1]

1912 Married at Swindon to Nora Rebekah Morse and had two sons

General manager (1929–1947) who saw the GWR through World War II
