1865 James Nelson Shoolbred started his consulting practice in Liverpool, where he worked on the design and construction of large warehouses and industrial works, involving heavy ironwork, and also tidal survey work in the Mersey estuary.

1876 Moved the practice to Westminster.

1888 Began working for municipal electrical enterprises, initially electric lighting of Bradford.

1907 Shoolbred died.
