Presumably this was established by James Nelson who also established Nelson Line.

1892 The company was registered January 11, 1892, to amalgamate the businesses of Nelson's (New) River Plate Meat Co, Limited, registered July 18, 1889, and Messrs. James Nelson and Sons, meat importers.

1896 Said to be "the Largest Meat Purveyors in the World"[2]

1896 The fifth general meeting was held. William Nelson presided[3]

1908 Directors: G. Harris (Chairman), W. Blease, R. Cooper, H. W. Langley, E. Nelson (Joint Managing Director), T. C. Nelson (Joint Managing Director), and W. G. Rayner. Secretary P. Holmes.

1914 James Nelson and Sons and the River Plate Fresh Meat Co amalgamated; the business was renamed the British and Argentine Meat Co[4]
