1826 Under the Metropolis Roads Act, 14 turnpike trusts in Middlesex were combined; James was appointed surveyor.
1828 Married Harriet Younger in Wapping
1834 James was knighted.
1851 James N McAdam 64, Knight; Deputy Lieutenant: Surveyor of Roads, lived in Marylebone with Harriet McAdam 59, and William McAdams 47, visitor, surveyor of roads, and his grand daughter, Gloriana [1]
