Born the son of Thomas Primrose, a Smith.

1891 Residing at 52 Rosslyn Crescent, Edinburgh: James Primrose (age 62 born Glasgow), Iron Founder. With two daughters.[1]

1922 Died. 'An engineer, well known in Edinburgh and Glasgow, has passed away in the person of Mr James Primrose, who has died at his residence, 14 Dudley Terrace, Leith. Mr. Primrose, who was in is 85th year was the sole partner of Primrose and Co, Albert Foundry, James Street, Leith, which business he had carried on for about twenty-five years, succeeding the late Mr John Black.'[2]
