1914 Spade Manufacturer. Specialities: Spades and Shovels, Drain Tools, Hill Drain Rutting Spades, Flauchter and Peat Spades, Implements for Agriculturists, Contractors, Engineers etc. [1]

1937 James Rigg and Sons Limited was incorporated as a private company, with capital of £2,500, to acquire and carry on the business of James Rigg & Sons, spade and shovel manufacturers at Crawick Forge, Sanquhar.[2]

1952 The closure of Crawick Forge was announced. It was noted that the poet Robert Burns was one of the forge's earliest customers.[3]
