c.1807 James Royston built the West Parade Wire Works.

1816 Royston and Heap listed as card makers (Pigot's Directory).

1822 James Royston listed as a card makers and manufacturer of iron card, brass, and bobbin wire in Baines's Directory.

1845 James Royston and Son.

1853 James Royston, Son and Co.

1857 The company made a large portion of the wire required for the first Atlantic cable.

1876 New works premises at Shroggs, near Lee Bank.

1897 Company established.

1898 The company was registered on 3 March, to take over the business of wire manufacturers of the firm of the same name. [1]
