James Stevenson
James Stevenson (1786–1866), a Glasgow cotton broker
Married Jane Stewart, née Shannan, daughter of a Greenock merchant.
1825 Birth of son James Cochran Stevenson in Glasgow
Stevenson may have had connections with the Tennant family, alkali manufacturers. They were involved in various ventures together, both in Glasgow and later on Tyneside.
c.1843 Moved to South Shields, where he became senior partner of the Jarrow Chemical Co, alkali manufacturers.
1854 Retired from the business
