1871 Living at the Railway Hotel, St. David's, Exeter. James Underhill (age 42 born Crediton), Hotel Keeper. With his wife Eleanor and two sons.[2]

1881 Living at the Railway Hotel, St. David's, Exeter: James Underhill (age 52 born Crediton), Hotel Keeper. with his wife Eleanor and seven children.[3]

1891 Living at the Railway Hotel, St. David's, Exeter. James Underhill (age 62 born Crediton), Hotel Keeper - Employer. With his wife Eleanor and four children.[4]

1893 July. Died age 64 after an illness. Proprietor of the Railway Hotel. Many years a member of Exeter City Council.[5]
