1832 Sale Notice: 'To Millwrights, Machine-makers, Ironfounders, Joiners and Builders, Cotton-spinners, and Others. By JAMES FROST, Friday and Monday, the 4th and 7th days of May, 1832 (Exempt from Duty,) by order of the assignees of Jamieson and Sandiman, on the premises lately occupied by them, situated in Currier-lane, Ashton-under-Lyne, the whole of the valuable Stock of MACHINERY, Lathes Tools, Utensils, finished and unfinished Materials of various descriptions; comprising cupola, blowing-machine, the whole of the mill-geering, twelve, nine, and eight inch, nearly new, double and Single speed lathes; upright drills, cutting engine, large and small grinding stones and glazers, filing vices, smiths' bellows, anvils, and swages, moulding boxes; smiths', moulders', joiners', fliers', and turners' tools, in great abundance; large quantity of well-seasoned baywood plank and cut logs for 40 inch cards ; and a great stock of pine timber, in log and boards ; several large wood sheds ; round, flat, and square new iron ; new machine castings and old metal; new and old brass, new dash-wheel, cask of tallow; sets of patterns for millwright work; cards, drawing, and bobbin frames; stretchers' mules, looms, dressing machines, &c ; large quantity of machine-makers' stores, new files, screws, bolts, washers, nails, new brass castings, wires, beam, scales and weights, desks and counters; two excellent young mares, for either cart or gig; broad and narrow-wheeled carts, geers, and hackney saddle, with every other requisite for carrying on the above business. The sale to commence at ten o'clock each day. ....'[1]
