1891 Living at Heaton Street, Cleckheaton: William Phelon (age 38 born Cleckheaton), Mechanic in Iron and Steel - Employer. With his brother Joah C. Phelon (age 32 born Cleckheaton), Mechanic in Iron and Steel; and his sister Alice Phelon (age 29 born Cleckheaton), Housekeeper; and his niece Anne Rayner (age 14 born Cleckheaton), Pupil Teacher.[2]

1896 First worked with his nephew Harry Rayner building motorcycles (or quadricycles?) at Cleckheaton, Yorkshire

1901 A wire tool maker, living at Elder Terrace, Cleckheaton, aged 42 (born at Cleckheaton), a Toolmaker with his sister Alice (age 39) and niece Annie Rayner (age 24)[3]
