1920 Public company: John Baker and Co (Rotherham)

1929 Acquired Henry Bessemer and Co to rationalize capacity in rail making[1]. Name changed.

1951 Nationalised under the Iron and Steel Act; became part of the Iron and Steel Corporation of Great Britain[2]

1961 Manufacturers of railway wheels, tyres and axles, complete wheel pairs, tramway tyres, crane tyres, traction and other types of gear and wheel blanks, rolled steel rings, pipe flanges and turbine discs. 1,300 employees. [3]

1963 Purchased by the Iron and Steel Investments consortium from the Holding and Realization Agency[4].
