1803 Sale notice: 'To be SOLD by AUCTION, by Mr. BARON, ... by order of the Assignees of John Barlow, Bankrupt, upon the Premises adjoining the Factory occupied by Mr. J. Salisbury, Knott Mill, in Manchester, .... TURNING LEATHS and TOOLS, for Machine Making, now standing in the said premises, and also a quantity of Cast iron and brass wheels, rollers and other materials for fitting machinery, a quantity of deal scantlings, owler, bay wood, and mahogany in planks, iron in bars and rods, vices, bellows, hammers, and every thing requisite for carrying on the machine making business; also a 40 inch Carding Engine nearly finished, with other machinery in an unfinished state. ....'.[1]
