c1830 Born the son of William David Burlinson

1901 Living at 32 Argyle Square, Sunderland: John Burlinson (age 67 born ), Mechanical Engineer. With his wife Sarah.[1]

1906 Died. 'We regret to announce the death at the ago of 76 years of Mr. John Burlinson, retired engineer, at his residence, 11, Azalea Terrace, Sunderland. He had been ailing for nearly a year from rheumatic gout. The deceased gentleman was a native of Sunderland, and he had been identified with the engineering trade all his life. He directed the management of the old Millfield Engine Works, which were in existence 30 years. About 50 years ago the deceased gentleman, in conjunction with his father, the late William David Burlinson, invented the counter-balance coal drop patent, winning the 600 guinea prize offered for the best means of shipping coal. The deceased was a Conservative in polities, and leaves a widow and a grown-up family of three and one daughter.'[2]
