JOHN CAMPBELL MURRAY died on the 30th March, 1943, at his residence in Whitecraigs, Renfrewshire, at the age of 59. He received his training as a mechanical engineer with G. and J. Weir, Glasgow, and from there joined the British Thomson-Houston Co. at Rugby, first in the A.C. Design Department and afterwards in the Export Department. During the war of 1914-18 he served with the R.F.C. In 1919 he commenced practice as a consulting engineer in Glasgow, and among much other work was responsible for the electrical arrangements of the British Empire Exhibition held in that city in 1938. He was prominently associated with the public-life of Glasgow by his association with the Trades House of Glasgow. He became an Associate Member of The Institution in 1913 and a Member in 1920. He served several terms as a member of the Scottish Centre Committee. He is survived by his widow and one son.
