1848 Assistant Chief engineer on the Caledonian Railway

1851 Living at 8 Queen Terrace, Lanarkshire: John Collister (age 40 born Isle of Islay), Civil Engineer. With his wife Mary Collister (age 32) and three children; Mary A. Collister (age 10); John G. H. Collister (age 6) and Margaret Collister (age 5).[2]

1861 Visitor at Ryde, IOM: John Collister (age 52 born Isle of Islay / Leyland Lancashire), Civil Engineer and Widower.[3]

1868 October 09th. Dies at 31 Victoria Road, Kensington, Civil Engineer, Widower. Probate to his daughters Mary Radcliffe Collister and Margaret Collister.
