1847 Patent '...that John Coope Haddan, of No. 14, Lincoln's-inn-fields, in the county of Middlesex, civil engineer, assignee of certain letters patent granted to Edmund Tayler, of King William-street, in the city of London, Gentleman, on the 11th day of May, in the fourth year of the reign of Her present Majesty, for the sole use of an invention in the said letters patent, intituled "certain improvements in the construction of carriages used on railroads,"...'[1]
