John D'Arcy and Son of Anchor Brewery, Usher Street, Dublin.

The Anchor brewery was founded in 1740 and was owned by Edward Byrne a well-respected Catholic businessman in late 18th century Dublin. His son, John Dominick inherited the brewery on his father's death and decided to sell Anchor.

John D’Arcy was born in Dublin in 1787 and he inherited a small brewery on Bridgefoot Street. Anchor was acquired by D’Arcy when he bought it from Dominick.

The Anchor Brewery on Usher St., was to make D'Arcy's Dublin Porter.

1926 Brewery closes.
