1897 Patent. 19,580. William John Brewer, civil engineer, of Pimlico, and John Edward Cooper, engineer, of Withernsea, Yorkshire, applied for a patent for "improvements in auto-motor vehicles or carriages".[1]

1899 Patent. 'George Pennington and John Edward Cooper, Withernsea, for improved reciprocating engine'[2]

1902 Patent. 'John Edward Cooper, engineer, of Prince's avenue, Withernsea, in the county of York, England. An improved construction in connection with the anti-friction mechanism of the axle shafts tri railway carriages and other vehicles.'[3]
