1900 Mr and Mrs Gell lived in Wakapuaka New Zealand; he was officer in charge in the Postal and Telegraph department[1]
1901 His first patent concerned "Improvements in and relating to Apparatus for Perforating the Tape used on Automatic Telegraphic Instruments." This was followed by another c.18 patents concerned with automatic telegraph perforators and transmitters, and similar instruments.
1910 An electrical engineer, arrived in New York from Liverpool[2]
1917 Address given as Pine Grove Works, Tollington Park, London N - ie Gell Telegraphic Appliances Syndicate
1920 First of several patents in areas other than telegraphs, such as radiators and machining tools.
1930 Address at Tollington Park, London N
1937 His final patent was on the subject of "Improvements in rotary milling and like cutters"
1939 John Gell 84, managing director of .... engineering company, lived in Edmonton with Fanny Gell 65[3]
1940 Died in Edmonton; estate left to his widow, Fanny[4]
