1933 Obituary.[4]

We regret to record the death of Mr. John George Bridgewater, highly esteemed resident, of "The Manor House,” Edenbridge, which occurred quite suddenly on the 23rd Inst., at the age of 74, to the deep sorrow of wide circle friends.

Mr. Bridgewater, who was a Freemason of the St. Michael’s Lodge, and a vice-president of the Grocers’ Benevolent Fund, had had a most successful business career, becoming the senior partner of Messrs. Stevenson and Co., Importers, etc., of Albert Embarkment, S.W., which he joined at the age of 16, and was made a partner in 1890. He founded the Royal Packing Co. (of which he was the senior partner), Bridgewater Sales, Ltd., of which he was the director, as he also was of Bridgewater's Biscuits, Ltd., of Acton, which has become famous in the manufacturing of wafer biscuits, although the business was only founded by him some twelve months or so back.

Prior to his settling at The Manor House. Mr. Bridgewater had resided at Old Malden House. Surrey, and Mount Tavy, Malden, for many years, and was very well known in Surrey circles. He bore a most charming personality and genial nature, which made him beloved all that knew him, whilst his charitableness was proverbial, although always given unostentatiously. In all business. City and local circles he will be sadly missed. His eldest son is Kenneth Cove, the popular West End actor, of Aldwych fame....
