1916 Obituary [1]

JOHN GREENFIELD was born in London on 5th April 1856.

After being educated at various schools, he began in 1874 an apprenticeship of five years at the Metropolitan Railway Works, Neasden, after which he was appointed assistant works manager in the Carriage Department of the same works.

This position he held until 1892, when he became works manager of Pintsch's Patent Lighting Co., Ltd., London, and retained this post until August 1915.

His death took place at Leeds, on 27th June 1916, at the age of sixty.

He was elected an Associate Member of this Institution in 1912.
