John Henderson (1823-1873) of the East Lancashire Soap Co

1823 John Henderson was born and christened by his father Rev. John Henderson.

1861 Living at Sefton's Cottage, Clayton le Moors: John Henderson (age 38 born Colne), Soap Manufacturer. With his wife Mary Henderson (age 32 born Enfield, Lancs.) and their two sons Joseph Henderson (age 1 born Enfield, Lancs.) and John Henderson (age 1 month born Enfield, Lancs.). [1] House is adjoining the St. Mary Catholic Chapel.

His wife Mary nee Becker, (1828-1914), daughter of Hannibal Leigh Becker (1803-1877), owner of Vitriol Works in Altham, other businesses Slack Valley Oldham, chemicals, calico printers etc. HLB's father Ernst Hannibal Becker b. 1771 Schloss Tenneberg., Thuringia, Germany, lived at Foxdenton Hall, Middleton, Oldham, various businesses in Oldham area. Large family archive at Women's Library etc., due to Mary's sister Lydia Ernestine Becker, suffragist.[2]
