1941 Died. 'Mr. John Henry Stott, Deanhurst. Cranbourne-road, Allerton, who was Interred at Nab Wood Cemetery, Bradford, to-day, was born in the Ovenden district of Halifax 84 years ago. His family were commission weavers. When Mr. Stott was but a child the family removed to Bradford. Although he never came again to live in Haines district, he was all his life fond of walking from Queensbury to the Bradshaw, Ogden, Illingworth, and Ovenden district. He was the founder of John H. Stott and Co., piece dyers. Bradford, now a part of the B.D.A., of which he became a director. He served on Bradford City Council, from 1909 to 1912, and was for one year chairman of the Education Committee. He was many years a governor of Bradford Grammar School, and member of the Council of Social Service. At Listerhills Congregational Church he had held many offices. including that of secretary. He leaves a widow, two sons, and two daughters.'[1]
