JOHN IRVINE, born on the 14th November, 1876, died at Kuala Lumpur on the 7th March, 1913.
He was apprenticed to Thomson and Wright, of Edinburgh, and was afterwards successively employed on the Caledonian Railway, the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, with Mammatt, White and Kay, and with Mr. Blundell on the Cheshire lines.
In 1906 he joined the staff of the Great Indian Peninsula Railway, and 3 years later engaged in consulting practice at Kuala Lumpur, where he died.
Mr. Irvine was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 8th April, 1902.
