1920 Died. 'The founder of the Merseyside grocery and provision shops that bear that name of John Irwin, Sons and Co., Ltd - namely, Mr. John Irwin, of "Cresfield," Crosby road, Waterloo. died on Sunday, at age of 81 years. Mr. Irwin, was born at Clones, County Armagh, being the son of a farmer, and after serving his time to the grocery trade in Dublin, came to Liverpool in 1867, and gradually built up the present extensive multiple business.'[1]
