1900 Listed as boot and shoe dealer of 83-84 Leeming Street, Mansfield.[1]

1901 Residing at Woodlands, Woodlands Road, Mansfield: John James Gascoine (age 65 born Mansfield), Shoe manufacturer. With his wife Sarah Ann and one daughter.[2]

1906 August 12th. Died. 'John James Gascoine, of Walton Lodge, Kirby Muxloe, Leicestershire, boot manufacturer, principal proprietor of the firm of Messrs. Thomas Brown and Co., and managing director of Messrs. Royce, Gascoine, and Co., Lid., of Leicester, prominent member of the Leicester Shoe Manufacturers’ Association, who died on August 12th, aged 71'.[3]
