John Knowelden

From Graces Guide

With Downes Edwards patented a design of pumps and other inventions.

John Knowelden of Battersea developed a smoke consuming furnace. One of these was sent to Paris for trials in 1857 at the request of 'M. Haussman' (presumably Georges-Eugène Haussmann) and installed at the city waterworks, Quai d'Austerlitz.[1]
