Early 19th century: Lloyd designed the largest tide mill in Britain for the London Company for the Manufacture of Flour on the bank of the Thames, in East Greenwich marshes It was designed to obviate the disadvantage caused by the gradual diminution of power as the river and reservoir were nearly full or empty.
