1886 John McBain was listed as a blacksmith.[1]. He was described the same way in the 1903 edition.

1946 John McBain and Son Limited was incorporated, with capital of £5,500, to carry on business as motor, agricultural, mechanical engineers, iron, steel, and metal founders.[2]

1999 The company, which had by now changed its name to Cochranes Garages (Berwick) Limited, went into receivership.[3]
