John Perry (1743-1810)
John Perry (1743-1810), whose family had managed the Blackwall Shipyard on the Thames since 1708.
1743 April 6th Born at Stepney the son of John Perry (1713-1771) and his wife Ann Watlington (1716- )
1765 March 19th. Married (1st) Elizabeth Brown and they had four sons and five daughters
1789–90 Organised the excavation of the Brunswick (or Perry’s) Dock. He built its flanking 120-foot mast house – a major Thames landmark until its demolition in 1862.
1796 His second daughter Sarah (1778-1805) married George Green
1799 May 31st. Married (2nd) Mary Green and they had three sons and three daughters
by 1806 he had moved from his large house in the shipyard, when it was occupied by his son-in-law George Green[1]
1810. November 8th. Died in his 67th year at Battersea. John Perry Esq of Moor Hall, Essex [2]
