John Russell-Sharp (1877- )

Automobile Engineer, retired 1943. b: September 18, 1877, Coventry. Educ: Bablake School. Connected with the Industry since 1895 (or earlier). Joined the Coventry Motor Co. (a branch of the British Motor Syndicate), which produced the M.M.C. Motor Tricycle, the Bollee and other famous early cars; joined John I. Thornycroft and Co, Chiswick, and was instrumental in producing the 10-h.p. and 20-h.p. Thornycroft car; joined Vacuum Oil Co, Ltd., remaining with this company until retiring at age of 65; drove in the Emancipation Run from London to Brighton in November, 1896, and in the anniversary re-run in 1956 as the only survivor of the original event.
