1871 Living at Limefield House, Bury: John Scholes Walker (age 55 born Bury), Machine Maker employing 600 men and 180 boys. With his wife Alice and their three sons; Henry Meline Walker (age 24 born Bury), Civil Engineer; Richard Walker (age 21 born Bury), Machinist and Frederick William Walker (age 6); and four daughters.[1]
1875 Died. 'We have to record with regret the death of Mr. John Scholes Walker, who was well known among the old school of racing, and particularly amongst those resident in the Manchester district. Mr. Walker died at his residence at Limefield, Bury, Lancashire, on Thursday last, at the age of fifty-nine years.'[2]
