1851 Established by John Shields.

1869 The Wallace Works was established at Dunkeld Road, Perth.

1876 Shields brought his sons Alexander and Robert into the business as partners. John Shields died in 1890 and Robert Shields in 1893.[1]

1897 The company was registered on 17 December, to acquire the business of the firm of the same name, linen damask manufacturers. [2]

1922 The business of John Jeffrey and Co, linen manufacturers of Kirkcaldy, was transferred to John Shields and Co on 9th December.[3]

1936 The company went into voluntary liquidation.[4]
